Q: What is a pending payment instruction?

Q: How can a pending instruction be treated as executed or not?

Q: What is a pending payment instruction?
A: It means that the payment of an instruction can be pre-set with forward value up to 45 days in advance, excluding Sundays and public holidays.

In addition, pending payment instruction for Express Transfer, e-Transfer, Autopay and Bill Payments(Pay with Credit Card) do not include Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. For Bill Payments(Pay with Credit Card), the payment of an instruction can be pre-set with forward value up to 13 days in advance.
 
Q: Does the account need to have sufficient funds when a pending instruction is prepared?
A: No. Not until the specified forward value date.
   
Q: What will happen to a pending instruction in case of insufficient funds?
A: The instruction will be rejected. An advice with rejected reason will be sent to customers.
   
Q: Can a pending instruction be amended / deleted?
A: Yes, provided that the instructions are amended / deleted one working / clearing day, at least, before the forward value date.
 
Q: Who can amend / delete a pending instruction pending authorisation?
A: Any user who has access to the debit account in the instruction.
   
Q: Who can amend / delete an authorised pending instruction?
A: By the original authoriser or the Primary User(s), if the instruction was originally authorised by one user. Otherwise, if the instruction was originally authorised by two users, by any one of the original authorisers or any one of the Primary Users.
   
Q: Is authorisation required for deletion of authorised pending instructions?
A: No.
   
Q: How can a pending instruction be treated as executed or not?
A: A e-mail debit advice will be sent to customers for successful instructions (except HKD Transfer between Hang Seng Accounts and Bill Payments) whereas, for all failed instructions, an e-mail message will also be sent to the original authoriser with a rejected reason.
